This is BIG business. People need to know being an organ donor is nothing like you could ever imagine. You are at your own peril, if you are sent to the hospital. The term - "brain dead" does not exist in reality and is often subjectively applied. Organ donors have to be alive in order to donate their organs. The organ donor is given injections to paralyze, but not to block the pain. The victim feels everything.
Even if you are not listed as an organ donor, you are still at great peril of becoming one. You need to make sure you are opted-out as a organ donor with your State. A loved one needs to be with you at the hospital and defend you against the hospital's possible attempt to profit. Yes, it's that bad.
There's also a second issue no one talks about, but is very real. If i know someone is an organ donor, am i gonna try as hard as compared to someone who isnt?
