It is a blog post by a person who claims to have a PhD, but there is no evidence of this person having the credentials they claim to have.
Searching for this person as "Dr. Derek Knauss" turns up no results whatsoever in several search engines. I finally resorted to using google and got a single result of one post that they made where they called themselves by that name.
There is not one result of their education, employment history, papers written, doctoral thesis, participation in any studies. Nothing. All of that would exist and be publicly available in literature on the web if they were a doctor and completed the requirements to gain that title as other legitimate doctors who present this important information have.
I think it is just a person claiming to have credentials they do not have who is just repeating information that other individuals have stated - other individuals who did do the work to earn that title and work in the field that this person claims to work in.
So removing "Dr." and searching for "Derek Knauss" turns up several results of just a person who posts on various blogs who regularly makes claims that they are a doctor (and who is careful to not title themselves as being Dr. Derek Knauss, PhD.) and their posts are just them re-stating information that is already stated by learned professionals and others.
This information they mention in this blog post is a fabrication, but it mimics the actual information and data presented by actual PhDs in virology, immunology and other related fields. By associating this information with this person who is an easily-proved charlatan, I think it reveals that they are a fictional person who was created to soil the legitimate information put forth by professionals.
By creating a fake person stating legitimate information, pointing out that they are a lie also taints the information they share and others who also share this information who are not liars.
They are attempting to make the important information shared by legitimate professionals as something to be disregarded as a lie due to this person who is a lie also stating it.
If there are thousands of legitimate professionals all sharing the truth and someone wants to discredit them and their information, all they need to do is create a handful of fake individuals who are easily proved to be fake who state the same information so that even a cursory search will show they are fake. Then all of the same information put forth by legitimate professionals can be disregarded as fake as well.
So their information is truthful at its base, but do not cite this 'person' when sharing this information - cite the actual people with PhDs and legitimate employment and paper trails of their work who risk their lives and careers to share the same information who are legitimate professionals in these fields.
Thank you for that. You put in far more work than OP and whoever posted the article on their website.
