I've done a lot of research into these sort of groups and the things they dabble in, and I know they're fake as shit with their pretentious 'spiritual' right hand path BS. I also understand that some of what they practice can have long-term consequences, and that sometimes they continue to prey on their ex-members long after they leave. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to follow the teachings of anyone who claims to have occult knowledge and to put yourself in their hands. I understand the science of RVing fairly well, tried it in simple form a few times, and had pretty accurate results each time. I've also done a little telekinesis, but never anything worth continuing with. I'm more interested in understanding reality than playing around with it.
