Old school comms not connected to internet or satellite monitoring. I still have an old CRT tv and antenna.

Ham radio antenna in the approx. 3mhz to 30mhz band. Yes the military monitors this band since all civilian Ham operators operate in that band. Best way to monitor civilians and communicate to them without using the military bands. Everybody should get a Ham radio and license (yes you need a license to transmit, you don't if you just monitor the band). The only way to really know what is happening across the Nation or the World.

Ham Radio op here. Yes, it's a HF antenna. To be more specific, it's a multi-element beam so it's directional.

If if was actually used by most ham operators, it would have a motor at the top of the tower to turn the beam toward the signal. I don't see a motor in this one, so it's fixed in one direction.

Ham Operators aren't the only users of the HF bands - it's shared with ship-to-shore marine, military, oceanic aircraft, and many shortwave broadcasters.

It's a really big TV antenna.

For a really big TV.

Late 50s early 60s most houses in the town I grew up in had one. The fancy ones had a motor to rotate it, from a control box near the TV, depending on which channel you wanted to watch. Cheaper ones (like ours), we had to go outside and turn the pipe it was mounted on.

It's true, I remember having to do this while dad was drinking a brew and watching the game. "All right, turn it a little more,... more, Stop! It's good! Good job. Now, get me another beer."

I always knew my house would have the awesomest one when I grew up.

Now our antennas are retarded plastic things that work like shit and everything on sucks anyway! Funny how life is.

We used to get NBC and CBS from one city, and ABC from a further away city and always looked like the middle of a snow storm.

We just had rabbit ears and aluminum foil accessories for better reception. The prelude to tinfoil hats.

This is hilarious (in a good way!)

is it mill coms capable? and i thank you for that info you gave.

It's just a directional antenna, It can pick up and broadcast, Important part is the direction it's pointed. That one is 2 directional. Where do they point?

they are down far as i know.. that is a telescopic pole the antenna is on it looks like several motors on the antenna as well to turn it.

where is this?

Hewlet packard

you mean it's on their property?

inside the fence
