If you understand where they are in what they believe, free-will cannot be expressly broken or disregarded. There must be equivalence in a way - one party must agree in some fashion to the activities against it from other parties else they break that natural law. There's repercussions for that, karmically (or energetically, as they hold). This is sort of their way to prevent the karmic feedback of breaking the law of free-will. They admit it so that it almost is a sort of "ah, you were right all along - we never really lied, just played a game" mentality.
