I believe you are correct. Let no man deceive you by any means, for that Day shall not come, unless there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. The son of perdition was used to describe Judas. He was inside the church. The other time it is used is in Revelation to describe the the Papacy. We are witnessing that right now with the city of London and the City of DC as being revealed as the real owners of the CORPORATION OF THE UNITED STATES.
