I do not know for sure that you are correct, but that could absolutely be the case. scotus very rarely takes up cases unless public opinion has changed on a subject. for example, they didn't take up degenerate rights until states passed their laws, and most people wanted scotus to support unproductive relationships.

The end of the republic will come at some point, but it might not come in the next 4 years due to biden. Trump did a lot of good, and slowed down the demise of the the republic, but things were still moving in the same direction. scotus stating that the election was bad would have upset the establishment and would have caused things to happen much quicker in my opinion. It would have been worse if they took the case and ruled against the truth.
