It really sounds to me like the old story: Old guard wants to keep their power structure in place. Becoming more evil as the pressure mounts from the new system. The NWO is really the old world order on steroids to keep their power. The sick, evil, old guard must be swept away to make room for the new.
As for the alien tech: I don't think any has leaked out if true. I would have noticed.
As for the gold standard; it better be a wholly different system. A better way to look at a dollar bill as if it is a share of stock in our economy in terms of both production and tangible assets. The primary source of inflation is money for nothing. Of which the welfare state is a major contributor, but not the only one.
