Its not the Crown. The American Revolution started because the Jewish English Banks would not allow the New England colonies to create their own SCRIPT money. I read this in the writtings of Benjamin Franklin. When he visited England, he was asked by bankers about where they were getting more currency to put up new loans for new development and for the people and Franklin simply said that they created it as needed. That was the dirty little secret that the banksters wanted kept from the people, that they also created credit out of thin air. So the powerful banksters convinced (paid off) MPs in Parliament that they needed to better control the Colonies. They convinced Parliament to raise taxes on the Colonies which was the spark that ignited the Revolutionary war. The Boston Tea Party was just part of the revolt against higher taxes which were mostly used to pay the interest on the national debt incurred by Parliament to the Rothschild bankers.
