Five Michigan entertainment facilities are suing the state, demanding compensation for the losses they suffered while forced to close by COVID-19 health orders.

Attorney David Kallman filed the lawsuit in federal court on Wednesday, Jan. 20, after a press conference hosted on top of the bowling lanes at Royal Scot Golf and Bowl in Lansing. Kallman has represented multiple groups fighting Michigan health orders, including successfully representing Owosso barber Karl Manke.

Defendants in this case will include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and MDHHS Director Robert Gordon.

A spokesman from the Attorney General’s office said early Wednesday afternoon the state hasn’t been served with the lawsuit yet, but will respond to it in court once its filed.
