If there is any truth to this, it wasn't to silence the President. Understand the words: "...not worthy of his brand." If this is real, it's just a strategic business move: If Trump is planning his own platform (as he's hinted at) then why give your weight to what would essential be a future competitor? Hold back, build YOUR version/network, THEN put YOUR brand on it. Nothing more than that I assume.
