How ineffective do you have to be to battle something for 20 years and get exactly nowhere? Perhaps its no longer about the battle, perhaps its about maintaining the status quo and being allowed to make a good living by appearing as the carnival barker in the political circus. Alex is a showman collecting his fee's for playing his part. If he did not exist they would have to create him.
