Jones has been doing it quite deliberately for decades.

Take Jones and Joe Rogan, They trash the fuck out of each other online, this causes users to check out the other site to see what the beef is, then they make up, visit each other's shows, and enjoy all time record ratings.

Jones trashed Q, repeatedly, and each time he did it, millions of listeners go and check out Q. Same in reverse.

This is standard playbook stuff, and a big part of how the alt right grows, especially the smaller providers.

It's called marketing. Crazy Alex Jones, is not so crazy.

Jones is a master of using controversy to leverage up market share. He goes and bullhorns congress, and gets the MSM to trash him, and then some MSM viewers go to his website or tune into his show, and get exposed to his message. The night Hillary mentioned his name during the 2015 deplorables speech, he hit 40 million page views. Not too bad for calling her a baby eater. He generated a smaller but similar effect when he said Hillary and Obama smelled like sulfur. Roger Stone used the Jones show to launch the Bill Clinton is a rapist campaign, which was highly effective, and they were giving away cash awards to listeners who could get the statement and the T Shirt onto a MSM media segment.

You wonder why they tried to kangaroo imprison Stone and then beat the hell out of his wife?

These right wing talk radio platforms, combined with the churches, have audiences that vastly outweigh anything on the left, and deliver the bulk of right wing voters to the polls at election time.
