I have _finally_ been able to get some candid information from a highly trusted former colleague, about why the big military preps in Washington, DC. The source told me "The Democrats are completely, absolutely, 100%, petrified, the American people are coming to slaughter them all on inauguration day."

So I asked (rhetorically) "Why?"

The source responded "They know they stole the election. We know they stole the election. They know that we know."

So I asked "What do they hope to achieve with all the military?"

The source responded "Survival."

I pointed out to my former colleague that: The US can put about 1 million combat troops from all branches and reserves in the field, with about another million needed for logistical support operation, command, etc..

At 30,000 or more per city, they could only hold about 33 major cities, nationwide, if the population grows restless.

There are over 300 incorporated places in the United States that have a population that exceeds 100,000 out of a total of 19,495 incorporated cities, towns and villages in the United States.

I went on to tell my former colleague that what the Democrats are doing is a laughable joke. I told him it is just a photo op and a prayer that it never becomes the "real" deal, because they would not stand a chance in hell, even assuming the desertion rate would be less than 1%, in a Civil War. Though 50% or more is quite likely.

I then pointed out that this reality is also why China, Russia or any one else could not invade and hold the US. They do not fear our military or its technology or numbers. It is the 200+ million gun owners they fear; and rightly so.

He responded that "The democrats don't worry about the long game, they just want to survive into a new Biden Administration because they think things will cool down fast. They say the attention span of the general public is a short three days and with media changing the topic, they think they can get through the steal."

I then pointed out that none of them have security details in DC or at their homes, and all of them have to go home sooner or later. I asked if the Democrats ever considered that most American Hunters will sit out in the woods, in stifling heat or frigid cold, for several DAYS just waiting for the chance to grab.. a deer, and those same Hunters would be far more patient waiting to bag a tyrant?"

There was silence on the other end of the phone. I guess they hadn't considered that.
