To those who don't know, the Joint Chiefs who released the Biden transition letter the other day are not in the chain or command and have 0 operational authority. Seems like not too many people realize that. Theyre not in the chain of command, at all.

OP is correct. Chain of Command is POTUS to SecDef to MilCom Commanders; - JCS are advisors not in the chain of command, but their 'advice' carries a lot of weight.....
