FYI - I received a cancellation notice for my pre-paid lodging reservation to stay at a property in Arlington, VA for the Inauguration (assuming it would be TRUMP) on dates Jan. 19-21. I thought staying in VA would be less risky, but apparently the lock-down spreads out wider than DC itself. At least I'm getting refunded though, so that's a plus.

But there goes any hope of getting to witness POTUS being re-inaugurated and taking part in that historic event. :-( Wonder if my flights will also be cancelled. They're non-refundable flights, so I'm screwed if the airline themselves doesn't cancel them.

Here's the exact language from my cancellation notice:

"In response to local, state and federal officials asking people not to travel to the Washington, D.C., metro area during the inauguration, we are canceling reservations in the area and will not be accepting any new reservations at this time."

"To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th." - DJT

How intense do you think it will get here, bro? ---the east coast of Canada is under martial law

Quebec is under curfew, not Martial Law. Here on the west coast in Vancouver, the government is pretty relaxed about enforcing COVID orders and only the businesses owned by big corps are strict about wearing masks.

I think the s might h the f in DC on the 20th with arrests at the inauguration.

curfew is one cunt hair away from martial law, let's not get it twisted

Even if it would be Biden taking the oath on Jan. 20th, I would have still gone on my trip and waved Trump signs around (if there was a large pack of us who stuck together, of course). Now I won't even get the chance to do that either. But that could get me pounced on or killed, so I guess it's for the best. I'd never want to be in the way of a military op to give them more things to worry about (civilians' safety concerns), so let 'em have at it without innocent by-standers thrown in the mix. Cool with me. God bless our soldiers!

I bought all my travel long before POTUS said he wasn't going to the Inauguration. But even with him saying that (after the fact), I figured that statement could just be a 'head fake' anyway. Was still holding out hope that things would change and he'd be taking the oath again on Jan. 20th. But I guess it's for the best since DC will be a hot bed for precarious situations during that time, so it would be best to avoid the area then. Still really bummed about it though. :-(

They're closing down all the hotels, from what I heard.

AirBnB made a public statement the other day that they've canceled all their DC area reservations for Inauguration week too. Wish the damn airlines would CANCEL my DC flights for the Inauguration (that was SUPPOSED to be for Trump) so I could get a refund instead of me cancelling them. If I cancel my DC flights, I won't be able to get a refund - only credit towards future flights. The bastards!
