There are more DNS providers than Google.
In a way, I wish they would get with it! Red 3 get this done and over with. Like pulling teeth pull it and get the pain done!
Is there a DDNS? (Distributed DNS) Perhaps name coin can be resurected.
Run your own name servers.
You could just update your hosts file manually but what a hassle.
It's so cool and oldschool, though!
All the COOL kids used to share the cool kid hosts files back before DNS really caught on, and at this rate, we're going back to old-timey internets of yore where we do this again!
nice. post your hosts file! hint... take the hastags out or poal bolds it all. no clue how to get the black box with green type to go away. Nothing in mine hahahah

This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one space.
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
For example:
102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself. 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost
It is. But I am seeing some websites moving to non google or cabal platforms.
IMO it's likely to be pretty resilient. And I posted about the DNS "kill switch" on Voat. OP here is correct, it's the easiest way to deplatform an arbitrary site. Problem is that many modern sites do not work correctly when accessed by IP without a resolvable DNS name. Various reasons.
Easiest way for most users to switch is to go in to your router's admin page where client DHCP is configured. You'll find options to set the DNS servers to push to your connecting devices (laptop, iPad, etc...). Once configured just reboot your devices and let them reconnect to your WiFi and viola (as Call would say).
Hopefully they’ll de-platform you Godsimbecile.
