After the commercial air traffic loads, hit the "U" button at the top of the screen to see the military aircraft

Note that there are helicopters near Fort Hood/Austin area right now. Black Hawks are identified as Type code = H60

What's up with this??

Also seeing similar activity in Colorado Springs.

As many as 30 Black Hawks active across the US. Is this a coordinated drill?

As much as I hate to say it, maybe training. I'm in Tampa Bay and was literally watching 3 KC 135 tankers circling for hours yesterday (visually). Asked my Buddy in Coast Guard, response. New year, they have to re up on flight hours so if its not active runway they will go for hours. Planes I watched did touch and go at MacDill for 6 hours

Ex AF here, yes they need to keep up on flight hours to remain on active flight status. They usually use the T-38's though because it is way cheaper to fly. Now they might do a training mission that is actually in their big planes but mostly they use the small sub sonic jets.

Could be. Check out Colorado Springs. Similar activity there too.

Fort Hood, Army Base, Army uses UH60 extensively.

It's interesting, but hard to tell.

Yeah, just noticed it was Fort Hood.

Perhaps its a training exercise.

That's the most likely explanation, the Army does love their helicopters. As I said, it's interesting but being that close to a major Army base, it's not really notable (at least not to me.)

I see weird crap all the time at the local international airport, but it's just because it's a good stopover point.

There were as many as 30 Black Hawks active across the US. That seems like a lot. Maybe a coordinated drill?

Stop it!

Stop what?

Plane watching. It's so pointless.

Ah, a bit triggered by it are you? Ignore it then.
