There are rumors of the internet and TV stations going down, and possible "darkness" which may be power outages in random locations. We need to be able to find out the news, and I'm guessing the AM/FM radio stations will still be broadcasting. Possibly even Voice of America.

I kept hearing to get a CB radio, so I did. Bought a handheld one that's just a bit bigger than a walkie talkie and got an expandable telecoping antenna for it. Can receive NOAA station as well as talk to others who have CB's within a limited radius. I'm sure it's REALLY limited inside a major metro area. But it's better than nothing, I suppose.
