I have first responders in my family, and they’ve said that if Internet and Cellular systems were taken offline, it would severely cripple EMS/Fire/Police response capabilities. Hospitals rely heavily on these services for patient care, not to mention mass transit, pharmacies, and just about every other facet of our National infrastructure. I can understand the tactical reason for muting enemy comms, but am wondering how that wouldn’t inadvertently hinder good guy ops at the same time (first responders and the like). Thoughts?

Emergency services would not be affected.

If you have an old cell with no service you can still dial 911 and get thru as long as you are in range of any tower.

But what about EMS dispatch comms, NAV systems in responder vehicles, Paramecics calling ER docs to coordinate care and get permission to push certain meds, etc. ?

We're not talking emp here, just a telecoms blackout. Radios would still work.

I listen to local scanner traffic for the past 35+ years and can explain how they have changed.Where they were once analog, they are now digital.IF digital goes down, they always have analog backup to transmit and receive.EMS and First Responders have a direct line from their vehicle transmitter to communicate with hospitals, dispatchers and other law enforcement without cell phones or internet. Also,GodsAngell has posted about internet kill switch not affecting first responders.

Thank you. I still wonder about mass transit, etc. If the net goes down, society will largely grind to a halt (stores can’t process payments, etc.) Gonna be like when I grew up - no cellphones or gaming systems...people actually had to talk to one another across the dining room table. I suspect that would be a healthy reset for all of us.

They also have a separate tactical radio network. But the challenge would be how are you going to tell them of the emergency.

if the internet gets shut down the DS shut it down...

I have ALWAYS taken the blackout to infer that the big-tech would shut it down to stop patriots from communicating with and waking up the NPCs when they realize that all their leaders are being arrested, and wonder whats going on.

Youre thinking that the white hats take it down to stop bad guys from communicating, propagandizing and inciting the NPCs?? I believe I have assumed this one completely wrong. I'll have to give that some thought. Thanks.
