time to dust off the old CB radio
Not a joke. The newer CB’s have Upper and Lower Single Side Band capability. I routinely talk to people 1000 mile away, pisses the hams off. All legal. 7 watts and a magnetic mount CB antenna. Sidebar; Shortwave receiver and a homemade long wire antenna pulls in all kinds of info. Just sayin’.
ch17 breaker breaker niggerfaggots. this is patriot44, who's up for some fun?
Funny. That shit still exists with the old timer truckers. SSB puts you at the bottom of the 10m band. It’s not like Smokey and the bandit anymore. I’ll take information anywhere I can get it if it all goes dark.
What brand do you have? I just have an old one on the shelf but might be a good investment to get a couple new ones for what is coming. Your homemade long wire will definitely give you more range than a standard quarter wave antenna.
I have the Bearcat 980 40 channel SSB in my Tacoma with the Wilson T1000 mag mount antenna. The long wire is for the My shortwave radio (Tesun PL-880). I found that the long wire sometimes works too good. The MLA-30 loop antenna is what I use most of the time for shortwave. Plus I have a few Baofeng BF-F8HP handhelds. Those little bastards put out 8 watts.
There has to be a common channel/frequency on a local, regional, statewide and national basis. Think I'm gonna start looking for a sideband CB-that might work locally-but for anything else you'd need HF and that's real expensive with problematic antenna logistics.
Or, get a cheap short wave radio and some wire. You’ll get plenty of info.
Yes. Channel 9 is the emergency CB channel. Good luck. 3 to 5 miles. Get a Single side band CB and your talking 1000 at times. I do it often.
Wow, thanks! I got out of the trucking business about 20 years ago. I still have my old Cobra 29, but dang, that is interesting! Catch you on the flip side, brotha!
Sure bro.
thats a big 10-4 good buddy
I've got a cobra 142gtl base station set up. Antenna 40ft off the ground plus a little fire in the wire. It'll reach out there.
