However - the problem is that the hosting servers and DNS servers have been reduced to a handful controlled by Big Tech - so, in reality they now own the so-called public internet.

Yes. I have it on my computer. Just lurk there. But if Cloudfare quits protecting the site, it will be open to attack and not work.
