I get this feeling that something is not quite right and I am missing something. President Trump's speech seemed to telegraph that Pence was not going to uphold his responsibilities under the Constitution. "Mike, do the right thing." He said that several times. The Patriots were allowed into the Capitol Building and permitted to roam around causing Senators and Congressmen to go hide away ... how did this happen? Seems strange. Surely, the Capitol Police and the Park Police would have anticipated the crowd moving on the Capitol Building and could have easily had barriers in place to block protestor along with sufficient manpower to hold a crowd at bay. DoD denied use of the 'National Guard' ... DC has its own National Guard units - one of which is a Battalion of Military Police. The DC mayor can call on the DC guard units if necessary without the DoD federalizing the units into active service. Between the Park Police, the Capitol Police and the DC National Guard MP Battalion, there certainly was sufficient manpower available to control a crowd of peaceful Patriots. Was the whole thing a setup? Wonder where Pence went and what he is doing tonight for dinner.
