I get this feeling that something is not quite right and I am missing something.

President Trump's speech seemed to telegraph that Pence was not going to uphold his responsibilities under the Constitution. "Mike, do the right thing." He said that several times.

The Patriots were allowed into the Capitol Building and permitted to roam around causing Senators and Congressmen to go hide away ... how did this happen? Seems strange. Surely, the Capitol Police and the Park Police would have anticipated the crowd moving on the Capitol Building and could have easily had barriers in place to block protestor along with sufficient manpower to hold a crowd at bay.

DoD denied use of the 'National Guard' ... DC has its own National Guard units - one of which is a Battalion of Military Police. The DC mayor can call on the DC guard units if necessary without the DoD federalizing the units into active service. Between the Park Police, the Capitol Police and the DC National Guard MP Battalion, there certainly was sufficient manpower available to control a crowd of peaceful Patriots.

Was the whole thing a setup?

AntiFa, leftwing terrorists set fire to federal buildings and laid siege to a federal courthouse for an entire summer and at no point did the police or federal troopers ever use live rounds -- in fact, they barely used even nonlethal rounds. They allowed themselves to be pummeled by AntiFa and BLM. However, now it's time to use live ammunition on civilian protesters? I guess the use of violent force is permissible when putting down some protests! Also, the folks in the capital were not leaving any graffiti, burning, looting, damaging anything. Listening and watching the commentators on the live feeds - it's painting the conservatives in the absolute worst possible light - as to be expected.

What a surprise, it turns out that it's conservatives that the agents of the state are allowed to be beaten, shot, and potentially killed!

This was a setup on the part of the Capital Police - in order to justify a 10000x heavier hand response. We the people should have expected this. Think out of the box people. The MSM, politicians, bureaucrats will be turned against anything and everything conservative.

This is the color revolution that other countries have seen. Folks from the old eastern block countries were warning us about this potentially occurring.

POTUS also said something like he didn't know what Pence was going to do...that he (POTUS) was hearing some bad things (re: Pence).

He also said today would be wild. Hang in there Patriots - this is not over. Did we really think the fight for freedom was going to be easy? Drastic times call for drastic measures. This was all a set up - but why? POTUS seems too calm.

Yep, how do 'protesters' manage to storm the Capitol Building during a joint session of Congress with the VP attending? There's no way that would normally be able to happen.

That was a hell of a lot more than four busloads of Antifa - although Antifa could have inspired the crowds. Provocateurs.

That was at least several hundred thousand Trump supporters. Biggest crowd yet.

Don't forget, a lot of ex military in the Trump supporter crowd + bigger guys on the front lines generally. Not easily intimidated.

Cops looked scared to me. Trump supporters have been painted as violent racists for years now. That sinks in over time.

There was a lack of police support numbers wise. They were severely outnumbered. Perhaps they were not expecting the crowd to march on Capitol Hill? They should have.

Troops nowhere to be seen. Maybe they deployed to protect the White House:)

Yeah, it could have been a setup.

The DOD can tell the Mayor in DC case that the National guard isn't available. ( Usually a deployment or Mobilization into Active Service ) Remember NG first duty is to the Nation
