They have until the day before inauguration to certify the votes.
It starts on the 6th. Objections could cause up to 2 hours of debate per objection. They can also recess until the following day. By law if the process goes into a 5th day then no recess can be taken until the process is completed. See 3 USC ch. 1 secs 15 16 & 17
