I'd have to disagree I watched the Military flights ops real time pretty much everyday for months and it is definitely much more than normal and the abundance of aircraft flying search patterns way more than normal training. I can speak with some experiance having served in Naval Aviation my entire Military career, however what it all means, your guess is as good as mine.

Look at Norfolk right now, that H60 screening the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, several C2's looking at the Elizabeth River. They're hunting submarines.

The Babylon Trench straight out from NYC is a natural up-funnel directly into the big apple if anyone popped off something significant, it would take out the city. (Like a big watch the water event)

Look up north in the Bay a bit towards DC, they are scanning the narrows up there too.

The H-60 scanning the entrance to the bay is Definently searching intently for something, I wonder how deep the entrance to the bay is? I'll look it up.
