Secret societies create a control system for lying and deceiving. They also serve to slowly change the beliefs of members and indoctrinate them with alternative beliefs. They also serve to make use of members who hold key positions of power or authority.

No, you are right. Secret societies like the Freemasons make light of the secrecy, pretending that it's all just there to make the society more interesting to its members and give it a sense of mystique. But it's completely unnecessary if they aren't using it to hide things, which they are.
Exactly Patriot, and I have found this same thing with the Knights Templars , and just like Free masons, the higher you go the more you really know, but only the top guy knows the whole deal. Even the second highest does not have it all. And the question we also never see asked is, why did they hide the Holy Grail and Ark of Covenant from the Church ? There is more going on then they want us to know about. I realize since they have no power they feel they can gain power by these items, but the power came from God to what we can call symbols. And God is sure not going to send his power to help them ? and if they had power, they would not be going crazy trying to find the both.
