Per the CLAS stuff, IMHO, if it is an idea, it is likely reality. The capabilities are endless.... Everything starts with a thought. The same as for Looking glass, i believe it is really very very good intel work. You study a thing for long enough, you begin to make the intuitive leaps that the human mind is capable of. The "aha" of sound analysis.
