and Jesus said you can not serve two masters, guess the pope missed that one. Jesus picked 12 to spread his gospel, as he knew he would be making the sacrifice for our sins to be forgiven. but then religion brought power , control and manipulation, and the teachings started to go off the rails, because power, control and manipulation no longer are Gods teachings. that's why martin Luther nailed pages filled with grievances on the church floor that were not being followed.
If there is agreement between what the Church teaches and what Christ proclaimed, we are not serving two masters.
The only agreement has been we have free will, after that it is Thy will be done, no exception to policy. What martin Luther found were many exceptions to policy, now who is in charge really ? may explain why the church is where it is today because of those exception to policy, Example the bible clearly states, no word will be added or subtracted or they will be removed from the book of life, yet these words were allowed to be changed ignoring the warning, I would be leery of anyone that has to look down to see God. we do have free will, and that means we will be held accountable for our choices.
It's interesting how you talk about free will and Martin Luther in the same breath, since Luther wrote a treatise on how the will is enslaved and all evil is caused by God.
You also mention not removing words from the Bible, yet Luther did just that by removing the deuterocanonicals (and he wanted to remove the book of James!).
He's a heretic.
