The driver accelerated the vehicle to escape, according to videos of the incident posted to social media. After accelerating, attackers remained on top the vehicle until eventually rolling off. In a statement to the Detroit News, the police department said the driver was attempting to leave the dangerous scene after a rear back window had been “busted out.” “The officer tried to escape,” the department told the News. The incident started around 9:30 p.m. Sunday as a banging and yelling mob crowded around the SUV, which had turned on its overhead lights. Rioters climbed onto the hood of the car. That’s when the police car started to accelerate to escape. Video of the incident shows the threatened SUV driver accelerating and braking at least three times. As two attackers remained on top of the car, the SUV accelerated for a fourth time. After about 100 feet, both rolled from the car. Others in the mob ran after the police vehicle. No serious injuries occurred. The incident came at the end of another day of mobs gathering in Detroit, which have gone on for weeks nationwide. ----- Comment: Jumping on cars is not a "Peaceful Protest." The Constitution does not grant you the right to jump on someone else's property and kick it repeatedly and threaten them as a mob. It grants you the right to peaceably assemble without touching anyone else. It's not "violating your rights" to be forcibly removed from the car by acceleration because you never had the right to jump on the car in the first place. The only "injustice" that is happening is these rioters violating the rights of a driver to not have his car beaten on and jumped on. It's an injustice to threaten and attack a driver. After that, if you get your dumb ass run over, that is called a consequence of threatening another person. The Constitution does not protect anyone from consequences of committing crimes. This logic should be common sense, but emotional children don't operate on logic. The only thing they seem to understand is consequences such as getting run over when you attack a car.
