The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology acknowledges and is sympathetic to the ever-changing environment that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created for our licensees. Our role is to ensure the health and safety of California consumers by promoting ethical standards and by enforcing the laws of the barbering and beauty industry. For the safety of our consumers and our licensees, the Board continues to urge licensees to abide by the Governor’s stay at home order.
We have heard of businesses disregarding the stay at home orders. If businesses continue to put public health and safety at risk by not following the state and local shelter in place orders, and if circumstances warrant it, the Board may pursue disciplinary action against their license. This will not be taken lightly.
The Board is drafting a Returning to Work Checklist for establishments for when licensees are able to reopen safely. We want to make sure we are able to maintain consumer protection and help guide our licensees when the time is appropriate and directed by the Governor.
Again, the Board fully supports the Governor’s stay at home order and we expect our licensees to comply. We thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

Dear Board
I just received an email stating that if I did not comply with the governor’s tyrannical rules my license would be yanked. First, this stay at home order is against the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The CA governor may ask our cooperation in dealing with this virus, but may not order it, as much as he would like to be a dictator and king. You, on the other hand, have absolutely no right to threaten a license.
Let me be clear. I will spread this letter far and wide on social media. Should you chose to yank someone’s license, which is completely illegal, there will be litigation.
So, what, is California going to start yanking any license, car mechanics, welding, contractors, attorney, any business license if one does not comply with Newsom's tyranny?

Paxton said he believes the judge is abusing his authority and that her arrest seems like a “political stunt.” In a full statement, Paxton said:
