**Update: Tue 1/28/2020** - I had some errands to do at the Post Office, so I went early hoping to avoid the crowds. Nope. At 9:30am there was already a long line. I also noted that most of the people in line were Asian looking....and all sending packages. I guess they are sending care packages to relatives in Asia. That's all I can think of. ---- Monday, 1/27/2020: #The Panic is Definitely ON!@# I just got home from running some errands and hitting the grocery store to get supplies for a potential quarantine. Traffic was unusually heavy for this time of day on a work day. Grocery Store was JAMMED like it was the weekend before Thanksgiving! Usually midweek, I am able to park near the front door of the store, but not today, I had to park out in left field! Inside it was crazy! ALL the check out stands were in full operation with a checker AND a bagger at each stand! Usually midweek, only one checker at express stand and one at a regular stand.....but all 8 lanes were FULL! Another unusual thing I observed: husbands and wives shopping together at 2pm on a Monday afternoon. Usually it is just housewives (alone) and/or the elderly during the day, during the week. Usually you only see couples shopping together on weekends......but not today! Lots of stuff I wanted to stock up on, I could not because they were completely OUT or only had small containers left (more expensive). And this is a HUGE store, that is about a block long inside the store! That's why I usually shop there, because they have ALL the brands, and every size of the brand, so you can get exactly what you want without having to go to more than one store. But not today! I'm going to have to go out again, tomorrow to try to get the rest......or maybe order it online and have it delivered and skip the hassle. Oh, I forgot to mention I live a few miles away from Ground Zero here in Orange County CA. We have two cases (so we have been told) in CA so far, one in LA and one in Orange County. They won't tell us where this infected person lives, worked, shopped before she became ill, nor will they tell us which hospital she is in. They just say "Santa Ana"......which is the county seat of Orange County, so that takes in a lot of mileage. Anyway, I guess others had the same idea I had: Don't wait for it to get worse, load up now! Better to be safe than sorry. I'm glad I have prudent neighbors. Watching that video of the UK Teacher in Wuhan this morning, he was limited to one small rolling carry-on type bag to cram his groceries into. As a result, he could only get one week's supply at a time. Each week of this month or two month long quarantine he will have to keep risking exposure to get more groceries. I made a mental note of that, and thought, nope, I'm going to stock up the best I can so I don't ever have to go outside for anything once things get going, even if my place looks like a warehouse as result. I don't care.
