I remember Trump's speech the morning after Iran lobbed a bunch of missiles at U.S. bases in Baghdad. When Trump said there were no American casualties, he got choked up, like he was fighting back tears. I wondered at the time if Trump deliberately held back the truth, so there would be no public demands for retaliation against Iran. Trump wanted to de-escalate the war.
