The first is the 'certain move' he made, which probably refers to a trap, or pre-emptive move he put in place, which caused their plans to fail. Imagine the (perfect) phone-call would have not been transcripted. I can't remember who it was ATM but in the follow up to Trump's team releasing the transcripts, there is video of one of those guys stating how those call transcripts were created and that they were stored in a special SCIF which wasn't normal protocol. So what it looks like now is Vindman himself was using illicitly obtained access to some transcription services [they aren't really called transcripts, there is a technical name for them which I can't recall ATM either]- they are more accurately realtime human taken notes on the calls - these notes are then used to generate action items and planning for executing any details which came up during a call. EG the President doesn't have to tell anyone 'I told Zelensky we were going to do this' - based on these special notes all the actions can go their own routes. So whatever you want to call them, these transcriptions were being stored in a separate secure location than normal. It seems probable the reason they did that was to leak a false trail in order to catch the leaker. They have been dealing with leakers since Day 0. So in summary, I don't think the call to Ukraine was "The" trap, I think it was a large vignette in the play - the play being the trap itself.
