I prefer the 1 step method. And there are various methods for your preference:

Laser

Angle grinder

Pipe cutter (watch Cool Hand Luke)

.22 subsonic

Spray paint

Paint balls

Bags

and the list goes on…

This seems to be the preferred method near me. There has been a spate of incidents involving cameras and paint ball guns.
