Yeah, this is just fear porn from people that don't understand tech and/or are conflating multiple different types of tech.

It IS true that some street lights ALSO double as camera systems and scan for blu tooth ID's and MAC addresses and such but they are not nearly as common as people would believe. It is also true that some of the "new" LPR cameras are doing the same thing now trying to track every single device it can to use the AI to tie those devices to you so you are directly tracked even if you are not in your car (think being able to tell that the guy on the bike is the same guy that drives the blue ford truck in the area). Stuff like that.

However, this kind of tracking has been around for a long time, it just gets very little press. At one point Google even did this with google maps turning stores/restaurants into tracking zones where in google maps it would display "how busy" a place was based on the amount of devices it could scan in the area (often using your own device as the scanner).

But yeah. That video is just clickbait fear porn.
