Fake Traveler is an app which accepts a location you select from a map and then sets your phones location using the mock-location developer facility. You pick the location and update frequency and then FakeTraveler begins to "update" your location. You need to activate developer options, but you do not need your device to be rooted. Experiment with google maps. You'll see FakeTraveler is not perfect even when you select one second or even zero second update frequency, but it is pretty good. My son was able to pin his location to the school all day every day when mom checked up on him on Life360. Be sure to turn off wifi and bluetooth location service enhancement - you'll want to use device gps only when you use this.
