I'm well aware of that, that's why I wrote this; "If we had decent EVs from the 90s or early 00s"
My point being that modern ICE cars can be remotely disabled as well. If we want a car that cannot be easily controlled, it has to be a bit older. There are loads of good ICE cars that are a bit older but still works fine and can be serviced to last for many years. Are there loads of great EVs that old? no. It's that simple.
An easier way to prevent remote disable commands is a jammer made from a paperclip placed next to the receiver's antenna. You could also enclose the receiving antenna in aluminum foil to make a Faraday cage.
If jamming the remote connection to big brother feels like freedom to you, sure thing bro. I prefer cars that doesn't have that capability to begin with. Sadly there aren't many (none?) decent EVs that was built like that.
In a way it's better because they're deceived into thinking they have control. You have one of their devices, after all. You're more able to operate under the radar, so to speak.
