The central reason the Left loves EVs is that the process of forcing Americans to convert to electric-powered transportation will destroy forever the incredible freedom and prosperity associated with privately owned gas-powered vehicles. The future will instead be centrally controlled by rich elitists and their corrupt politicians, power-hungry bureaucrats, and ideologically driven “experts.”
This is "pants on head" stupid and wrong.
Privately-owned EVs give you MORE freedom. Look at how one shithead in office doubled the cost of driving your gas car and there's not a fucking thing you can do about it. If you had an EV you could be making your own fuel just by putting some panels on your roof, or a small windmill, or a micro-hydro setup if you have access to a creek or river. Once you buy that equipment to generate your own fuel it's all free afterwards. There's nothing the government or anyone else can do about it.
Averaged over a battery’s life, each mile of driving an electric car 'consumes’ five pounds of earth.
Batteries last far longer than 100,000 miles. The warranty alone is for 150,000 miles and they rarely get replaced under warranty.
I agree with everything you're saying, the problem is that modern EVs can be remotely disabled, which nullifies all your arguments. If we had decent EVs from the 90s or early 00s, they would surely increase the freedom over ICE. But that's not the case, you're driving a remote controlled toy that belongs to the cabal.

So can gas cars, buddy. It has nothing to do with the fuel and everything to do with computerized control and cellular/satellite receivers.
I'm well aware of that, that's why I wrote this; "If we had decent EVs from the 90s or early 00s"
My point being that modern ICE cars can be remotely disabled as well. If we want a car that cannot be easily controlled, it has to be a bit older. There are loads of good ICE cars that are a bit older but still works fine and can be serviced to last for many years. Are there loads of great EVs that old? no. It's that simple.
