As a resident of Albuquerque myself, I can confess this whole ART project on Central Avenue has been an absolute pile of garbage. It's like this whole beautifully preserved commercial corridor that was once part of U.S. Route 66 has become victim to a stupid project that will most likely be used by the ordinary career politicians who helped to make it happen as "hey look how great I am" when they run for higher offices.
These dedicated bus lanes have existed and not been used for over a year now. And businesses are already leaving Central for better parts of Albuquerque, such as , which is moving from the Nob Hill area to Coronado Center.
Note that I'm not anti-mass transit. I think it's really good to have decent public transportation. But when mass transit is not done properly, nobody wins.
