It's been proven by numerous studies that an even flow of traffic on freeways leads to reduced traffic accidents. CA maintains a 65 mph for cars and 55 for trucks. The revenue from speeding tickets handed out like candy to truckers is far more important to CA politicians than the safety of any citizen traveling on the freeways. The ripoffs are vicious and endless.

I don't know where the truckers are getting those tickets, but the only trucks doing 55 are corporate fleet trucks (Toyota, beer trucks and similar) and fuel/hazmat trucks. All other trucks are doing whatever the rest of the traffic is doing.
Oh, and if there's a lane shift under a bridge, the container trucks aren't following the shift if it returns to normal after the overpass.

I drive the 405 twice a day in Orange and LA Counties for work. Truckers aren't getting pulled over. There's a 0 tolerance 55 zone on the 405 in Orange County for construction, no one is getting pulled over. I got passed by CHP and he was passed by big rigs this morning.
