I watched a lot of video from that event, and I saw a lot of shouting and a few hot heads, but I also saw people stepping in to rescue others (including a cop) when stuff was getting sketchy. Generally it looked like White Americans protesting about something, and by that I mean fat people in camo standing around holding coffee cups like it was a Sunday barbecue.

To call that an insurrection seems to lack any proof of a wider organisation and intent. These were all just random unarmed fat people on a day out, they even walked between the velvet ropes FFS

Certainly no comparison to AntiFa throwing rocks and petrol bombs and burning a court house.

It definitely did fool some people in the UK, I had a friend who referred to it as an insurrection, I actually lost a lot of respect for her intelligence that day. Being "angry inside a State building" does not mean you have collectively decided to take over the running of the country by force, the whole gaslighting concept the media are trying to push is a fucking joke.

To put it in perspective, I never once heard the 30 year long paramilitary campaign by the IRA to depose the governments of both jurisdictions on the island of Ireland described as an insurrection. Not sure why it wasn’t now I think of it, except maybe the governments of neither jurisdiction considered attempts by the IRA to usurp political power through force to be a legitimate threat to their positions. Unlike those lil ol’ ladies and unarmed larpers who took on the world’s most powerful government for a few hours I guess.
