as much as I hate virtue signaling because of the logical fallacy behind it, humans respond to it. Many sheeple just want to be on the side that wins, they don't care. This means that the more people who think a thing, means that thing is more correct and moral. So even if there is no chance of this bill passing, if it receives a significant amount of support, it gains credibility in the minds of the public and especially in the minds of politicians who are trying to win a popularity contest every couple years. So yes, we should be pressuring our reps to support this.
