True. But all the means of production will be taxed. So if you're growing yourself you're still paying the tax via the fees the government places on the companies. It's how the govt taxes the shit out of Americans for literally any and everything but avoid calling it a "tax".

Once you have a plant you just keep cloning it from clippings. I'm not sure how they would tax that unless you self report it.

True, but you have to buy fertilizer, water, lights, electricity, fans, etc. etc. etc. which are all taxed past the "sales tax".
