It makes more sense for the airport to hire, pay, and manage their own security. The government could still oversee the process and set licensure requirements, like they do for everything else, but there is no reason these people need to be direct government employees. All this shutdown is doing is exposing idiocy of how our government works and areas they should not be involved in to begin with.
