With the H.R.8 gun control looming in the senate, would we really put it past the government to gather public support with manufactured events to justify gun control legislation?

Not really "setting the stage" since state law expressly forbids local bans that are inconsistent with the state wide regulations. It's a little thing called preemption and well acknowledged. See Austin's mask mandate which, after some "process" will fall. https://pic8.co/sh/JUc424.jpg

Look lefty-bro-2, clinton did grab guns. The "assault weapons ban" only expired during the bush admin. Nobama also tried to grab guns, and did pass some executive orders. There is also a gun grabbing bill in the house as we speak.

So that political cartoon is 'tarded. But this is poal so have an upvote for your opinion that I disagree with.

grabbing gun bill in the house

*expanding background checks bill FTFY

If passed in the Senate, H.R. 8 would expand background checks and tighten gun-sale regulations. Specifically, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021 would broaden background checks for all firearm sales or transfers across the country. Right now, these checks are not required for gun sales or transfers by private sellers, known as the Gun Show Loophole. This bill would also apply to online purchases. By closing the Gun Show Loophole, H.R. 8 would expand background checks in these cases, making it illegal for anyone who is not a manufacturer, dealer, or licensed firearm importer to trade or sell guns, with current laws requiring background checks only for licensed firearm dealers. That being said, as reported by USA Today, nonlicensed individuals can still sell or trade guns by doing so through a licensed dealer who would run background checks for them. The H.R. 8 bill would also not create any other kinds of background checks, it would simply expand the cases where they would be necessary.
