They realize it, just don't give a damn. They figure the shutdown will just make their mindless minions even more rabid come 2020, and the Wall can wait til they are in power, and can claim credit for it....after enough newly-minted democrat invaders are let in to turn the whole country blue, and insure an end to any future Republican rule.
