I hope there is too, it's insane how readily doctors throw pills at you.

I had surgery a few years ago and during my follow-up with the surgeon, he asked me how I was doing on Percocet, and I told him I only took four of the sixty he gave me and didn't need the rest, and without looking up from his clipboard he said "Well if you need more just call the office."

I was literally speechless, like WTF dude... are you really offering to just give me bottles of narcotics I told you I don't need?

I had neck pain. First visit I walk out with 90 40mg oxycontin. I tell the Doc I'm concerned about it being addictive. This mother fucker assures me there little risk if addiction . That's how a 20 year opiate addiction started . In the 90's they were handing this shit out like they were m&m' s

I had a doctor tell me I had "unexplained back pain" and wrote me script for 100 Percocet. Took one, didn't like the fog it put me in and just stuck to aspirin and tylenol. Cleared up in a week or so. Did he really think I needed enough pills for a month?

They absolutely used to hand that shit out like candy.

Not only are they turning patients into dope fiends by overprescribing, they're encouraging people to lie about pain in order to get a monthly bottle of meds they can sell for $400 to dope fiends.

It's fucked at every level. Outside of extreme circumstances (broken bones, surgeries, etc) I'll never touch anything I can't buy over the counter for the rest of my life. Hell, I won't even smoke weed anymore.

Beer and ibuprofen is all I need.

This. The real thing is not the lie itself, but the wink and nod. As long as this is the way of the world, this will be, the way of the world.
