I watched the Elon Musk interview with Joe Rogan and noticed that the guy is very arrogant. He acts as if he knows everything, yet he's wrong on a lot of stuff. Whenever he's presented with information that he doesn't know he literally acts as if what you're saying is irrelevant. In the interview with Rogan he mis-quotes Carl Sagan, and then when Rogan tells him about an event he wasn't familiar with he immediately loses interest and acted as if Joe Rogan was the stupid one for knowing irrelevant things. Musk is very arrogant. He's smart, but he's not a genius. I have a feeling Musk thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is. I wasn't impressed by him at all. He doesn't seem all that smart yet he acts like he's the world's smartest man.

We'll be back after these messages with an even more shocking revelation. Water is wet.

Yes. The man who has made himself a billionaire with four different companies, revolutionized electric cars, space travel, and banking is not a genius.

I remember when a news org was interviewing a senior NASA engineer and the engineer laughed at spaceX and said what they were trying to do with the FalconX was "literally impossible and we would have already done it lmao"

Elon is the lead engineer at SpaceX and at Tesla, where they literally gave away thousands of patents for free and the entire auto industry is still struggling to keep up.

Elon Musk is one of the greatest minds of our generation, and is even woke on the fucking JQ. "Who owns the media, lmao."

You are all just jelly miserable broke-dick losers. cope.

You're an idiot. I love musk for the most part. Let me explain my opinion of him (from my limited knowledge of what he does in public)...

He's a good leader. Good leaders find the extremely smart and capable people in the required fields and give them the environment to innovate.

He isn't afraid to take risks (sometimes to a fault), and it definitely has pushed technology further than his aging monolithic competitors.

Sure he's lead engineer. He has final say in any technical decision and has enough knowledge to make those calls competently. Implying he puts in a majority (or even a large share) of the actual engineering work to make these innovations happen is naiev.

Is he the smartest guy alive ZOMG MUH ELON?! Definitely not.

Is he arrogant? Absolutely. It's practically a requirement of his job description. Arrogance doesn't imply boastfulness. It's the arrogance to believe the mountain of work in front of you is surmountable regardless of 'common sense' and what others tell you.

So before you needlessly gargle his balls in front of everyone again, make sure you aren't wasting your time on a fantastically retarded strawman, faggot.

I don't disagree with anything in your post specifically, but we are playing a bit of semantics here. I do not believe the person you are replying to believes that Elon was designing the actual product, however he has an argument for Elon being a great mind. I'm not ready to slob his knob and say he is smarter in many areas than even the people in this thread, but it's impossible to be a genius in all areas. The captain of the ship is not going to run the engineering room nor is the electrical engineer going to design the aerodynamics of a vehicle. We all do different areas, I think you realize that.

With regards to the Joe Rogan interview, no I wasn't impressed either, Elon wasn't making particularly great points but he was also not within his area of expertise. Joe doesn't lead people to deep conversation either, it isn't his style, he acts like he is impressed with Neil DeGrasse when that person made no interesting points at all.

If Musk was to make deep nuanced commentary he would need half a day and a team to help prepare his talking points and it would be in a very specific area, and it wouldn't appeal to the Joe Rogan audience. Reality is that few of us will get to see Elon Musk in his natural environment behind the scenes, but his results are very impressive. Is it because he's great at sales, securing financing, or leading teams? Probably all of the above, but since I don't work with him I'll likely never know.

sure is amazing how he keeps engineering success at solarcity, paypal, tesla and spacex.

hes probably just really lucky

I used to admire Elon Musk and thought the same things you did. Then i realized that most of his current income is from receiving the money from carbon offset credits for making his super-toxic battery-operated electric cars. Look at your gas & electric bill, and you'll see that now up to nearly half (depending on which State you live in) of your gas & electric bill is now going to pay people like Elon Musk for "offsetting" the "atmospheric carbon" produced by the delivery and utilization of your energy.

Totally. I don't care what he does, I just don't want to pay for it.

Elon musk is to Spacex and tesla as Steve Jobs was to apple. Personally Steve never made or created any of the inventions at apple. He actually stole or bought the ideas and took credit for it. He was notorious for taking credit for a lot of things he didn't do or invent. Case in point, iphone's multi-touch interface. He bought it from a guy who was building touch interfaces for the disabled. He wasn't a programmer or engineer.

Now he did have the foresight to use it in the correct vehicle and put various pieces together to form the iphone which is a marvel in itself. And he does have a vision.

Elon is the same. But he himself never invented anything or created any special technologies or patents.

Plus he had the backing of a government which gave him billions of free dollars ala tax payer. You can take most average people and you throw enough money at them, they will look smart. Elon's genius is that he got the government to give him billions plus DOD patents to get started, which in itself isn't an easy task.

But he himself is not a SME smart. Working in the energy sector, some things he's said about energy generation on a basic level is wrong. He never goes off script and when he does he looks really stupid.

And when it comes to doing things NASA says is impossible, its not hard to believe considering a lot of information coming out that makes NASA a multi billion dollar scam. Theres no wonder Elon can do it "cheaper" when everything NASA did required billions.

I'm not discounting his contribution or your comments. But lets not over idealize the man. He was just a guy in the right place at the right time.

beating nasa is hella easy and not impressive

weird how only elon musk managed to do it 🤔🤔🤔

right guy at the right place and time

with paypal.... and tesla... and solarcity.... and spacex.... and you are here

[–] 0 pt

He didn't revolutionize space travel. Watch thunderf00ts videos on it

watch thunderfoots video

let me know when he engineers a reusable rocket, invents online banking and creates the most valuable auto company in world history.... simultaneously 😂
