I watched the Elon Musk interview with Joe Rogan and noticed that the guy is very arrogant. He acts as if he knows everything, yet he's wrong on a lot of stuff. Whenever he's presented with information that he doesn't know he literally acts as if what you're saying is irrelevant. In the interview with Rogan he mis-quotes Carl Sagan, and then when Rogan tells him about an event he wasn't familiar with he immediately loses interest and acted as if Joe Rogan was the stupid one for knowing irrelevant things. Musk is very arrogant. He's smart, but he's not a genius. I have a feeling Musk thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is. I wasn't impressed by him at all. He doesn't seem all that smart yet he acts like he's the world's smartest man.

It takes an intelligent man to realize he isn't the smartest man in the room.

[–] 6 pts

I am oftentimes the smartest person in a room so like idk man

[–] 4 pts

Always check your ego when you think that.

[–] 4 pts

I find it refreshing sometimes to NOT be the smartest person in the room. To gain a new perspective, perhaps learn something I didn't know before. We're never too old to learn.

I oftentimes have the biggest ego in the room so idk man.

[–] 0 pt

I can't read minds, so I try not to presume, but I've been in a lot of rooms where dumb ideas are prevailing, so something's gone wrong.

[–] 0 pt

I know the feeling. My iq has been tested to be in the 150s, so I'm no genius, but often much smarter than the rest of the room. It's exhausting.

[–] 0 pt

Fucking a. I'm surrounded by 70 retards. 3 of them are based. One spic one nigger and one White man.

[–] 0 pt

Yep. Need loyal retards to take out the trash and whatnot..

Any organization that consists of all brains, won’t get anything done.

[–] 1 pt

Intelligence only gets you so far, what's more important is how it's used.

[–] 1 pt

I like this, "some people ain't smart enough to use their smarts".

[–] 4 pts

The bible actually addresses this. It's called wisdom. You can be very intelligent but also unwise. Intelligence and wisdom are not synonymous or linked by nature. One doesn't begat the other. You're born with intelligence or lack of but wisdom is learned and or intuited by thinking things through, either rightly or wrongly.

Elon Musk said he invented the "Hyperloop" which is train in a tube and someone actually invented it like a hundred years ago. Also Musk said he would be on Mars by like 2018 and that never happened

I don’t particularly like him but I think it’s pretty common throughout history that men who accomplished amazing things didn’t always nail the timeframe the first time for the thing that everyone around him said was impossible.

[–] 0 pt

He was supposed to send a robot there and he couldn't even do that. China has one there now

[–] 0 pt

Hyperloop type concepts were known in the 70s.

[–] 0 pt

Vacuum tubes are a bad idea anyway, it would be pressurized and dangerous.

[–] 6 pts

I don't trust the fucker and I think he's a narcissist.

[–] 0 pt

Big time. His PR campaigns are futile as soon as someone listens to the man talk for 5 mins. I guarantee you he absolutely hates anybody that knows more than him about any subject at all.

[–] 3 pts

Kinda dude that would shoot down an criticize anything anyone says because it didn't come from him. Center of his own universe.

[–] 3 pts

Dudes legacy is making money off government grants.

Hardly innovative or useful to society.

[–] [deleted] 3 pts

I hold the opinion that Elon is a fair to middling engineer who stumbled upon a lot of money. He's also fairly good at marketing, contracts and has at least some management skill. He's no genius though - For example, Neuralink is, and will continue to be, a disaster.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

We'll be back after these messages with an even more shocking revelation. Water is wet.

[–] 3 pts

Yes. The man who has made himself a billionaire with four different companies, revolutionized electric cars, space travel, and banking is not a genius.

I remember when a news org was interviewing a senior NASA engineer and the engineer laughed at spaceX and said what they were trying to do with the FalconX was "literally impossible and we would have already done it lmao"

Elon is the lead engineer at SpaceX and at Tesla, where they literally gave away thousands of patents for free and the entire auto industry is still struggling to keep up.

Elon Musk is one of the greatest minds of our generation, and is even woke on the fucking JQ. "Who owns the media, lmao."

You are all just jelly miserable broke-dick losers. cope.

[–] [deleted] 4 pts

You're an idiot. I love musk for the most part. Let me explain my opinion of him (from my limited knowledge of what he does in public)...

He's a good leader. Good leaders find the extremely smart and capable people in the required fields and give them the environment to innovate.

He isn't afraid to take risks (sometimes to a fault), and it definitely has pushed technology further than his aging monolithic competitors.

Sure he's lead engineer. He has final say in any technical decision and has enough knowledge to make those calls competently. Implying he puts in a majority (or even a large share) of the actual engineering work to make these innovations happen is naiev.

Is he the smartest guy alive ZOMG MUH ELON?! Definitely not.

Is he arrogant? Absolutely. It's practically a requirement of his job description. Arrogance doesn't imply boastfulness. It's the arrogance to believe the mountain of work in front of you is surmountable regardless of 'common sense' and what others tell you.

So before you needlessly gargle his balls in front of everyone again, make sure you aren't wasting your time on a fantastically retarded strawman, faggot.

I don't disagree with anything in your post specifically, but we are playing a bit of semantics here. I do not believe the person you are replying to believes that Elon was designing the actual product, however he has an argument for Elon being a great mind. I'm not ready to slob his knob and say he is smarter in many areas than even the people in this thread, but it's impossible to be a genius in all areas. The captain of the ship is not going to run the engineering room nor is the electrical engineer going to design the aerodynamics of a vehicle. We all do different areas, I think you realize that.

With regards to the Joe Rogan interview, no I wasn't impressed either, Elon wasn't making particularly great points but he was also not within his area of expertise. Joe doesn't lead people to deep conversation either, it isn't his style, he acts like he is impressed with Neil DeGrasse when that person made no interesting points at all.

If Musk was to make deep nuanced commentary he would need half a day and a team to help prepare his talking points and it would be in a very specific area, and it wouldn't appeal to the Joe Rogan audience. Reality is that few of us will get to see Elon Musk in his natural environment behind the scenes, but his results are very impressive. Is it because he's great at sales, securing financing, or leading teams? Probably all of the above, but since I don't work with him I'll likely never know.

[–] 0 pt

sure is amazing how he keeps engineering success at solarcity, paypal, tesla and spacex.

hes probably just really lucky

I used to admire Elon Musk and thought the same things you did. Then i realized that most of his current income is from receiving the money from carbon offset credits for making his super-toxic battery-operated electric cars. Look at your gas & electric bill, and you'll see that now up to nearly half (depending on which State you live in) of your gas & electric bill is now going to pay people like Elon Musk for "offsetting" the "atmospheric carbon" produced by the delivery and utilization of your energy.

[–] 1 pt

Totally. I don't care what he does, I just don't want to pay for it.

Elon musk is to Spacex and tesla as Steve Jobs was to apple. Personally Steve never made or created any of the inventions at apple. He actually stole or bought the ideas and took credit for it. He was notorious for taking credit for a lot of things he didn't do or invent. Case in point, iphone's multi-touch interface. He bought it from a guy who was building touch interfaces for the disabled. He wasn't a programmer or engineer.

Now he did have the foresight to use it in the correct vehicle and put various pieces together to form the iphone which is a marvel in itself. And he does have a vision.

Elon is the same. But he himself never invented anything or created any special technologies or patents.

Plus he had the backing of a government which gave him billions of free dollars ala tax payer. You can take most average people and you throw enough money at them, they will look smart. Elon's genius is that he got the government to give him billions plus DOD patents to get started, which in itself isn't an easy task.

But he himself is not a SME smart. Working in the energy sector, some things he's said about energy generation on a basic level is wrong. He never goes off script and when he does he looks really stupid.

And when it comes to doing things NASA says is impossible, its not hard to believe considering a lot of information coming out that makes NASA a multi billion dollar scam. Theres no wonder Elon can do it "cheaper" when everything NASA did required billions.

I'm not discounting his contribution or your comments. But lets not over idealize the man. He was just a guy in the right place at the right time.

[–] 0 pt

beating nasa is hella easy and not impressive

weird how only elon musk managed to do it 🤔🤔🤔

[–] 0 pt

right guy at the right place and time

with paypal.... and tesla... and solarcity.... and spacex.... and you are here

[–] 0 pt

He didn't revolutionize space travel. Watch thunderf00ts videos on it

[–] 0 pt

watch thunderfoots video

let me know when he engineers a reusable rocket, invents online banking and creates the most valuable auto company in world history.... simultaneously 😂

[–] 2 pts

When he said he'd wear a helmet of cell phones 'worry-free', I lost a lot of respect for the man. EMF's are harmful, and he's just convinced/reinforced millions of ignorant people that EMF's are benign.

[–] 1 pt

earth is flat so SpaceX is a sham - he's a CIA puppet

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Anyone who believes humans will ever fly to Mars, land and live there at anytime remotely soon are complete and total morons. We are literally hiding, wearing masks and being in groups is banned. Humankind became the stupidest they have ever been in 2020:

The peak of our intellectual technology peak. Think about it. We're completely fucked as a species not because of anything dangerous... because we are complete idiots. Take the mask off. Go back to normal.

[–] 1 pt

Welcome to the club of realizing the "geniuses" we were told about were a bunch of thieving and backstabbing hacks. Like Edison. Or Einstein.

[–] 0 pt

Elon is a con man who grew up wealthy what do you expect, the team did everything he is claiming he is known for, stealing employees ideas then firing them then with NDA is his claim to fame. Also under pays his employees by a large margin. He is a classic workplace psychopath from how his business operates, the company stagnates all the time because people quit after finding out he is full of shit and that he relies on stealing from new competent employees that think he wants to work with them. Elon has actually halted a lot of space exploration because the retard is using it to attract investors to make money off the idea not actually following through with something beneficial. Which means its going to be literal gay niggers in space when he wants to fully cash out and reveals his full globo homo ideals.

[–] 0 pt

He seems to be ahead of the curve to me, and whomever he's got working for him are top notch?

You don't have to be Einstein to do that, but you do need some level of ability and intuition that most people don't have. From what I've heard about his childhood he was pretty exceptional. I wouldn't hate on someone for the sake of it, it makes you look jealous
